Nashville's Be Your Own Pet are calling it quits. The band announced:
To all of our fans, we are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years. It's been a blast, but the time has come for the four of us to go our separate ways.
The band released
Be Your Own Pet in 2006 via Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! label, followed by Get Awkward this year. The band specialized in bratty, adolescent garage punk, with much of their critical acclaim coming from indie rock circles. This, combined with recent disparaging comments made on the Warped Tour made them a polarizing band among more traditional punk fans.
As some of you may have heard, we've decided to call it a day. It was not an easy decision for any of us, but it got to the point where people began to become interested in other things, and we couldn't put enough into the band anymore. As people began to leave to pursue other projects, it became harder and harder to find replacements and still believe that we were the same band. In no way is there any bad blood between any us, and I'm sure some of will work together again on some new musical endeavors.

Kingston, Ontario's I Hate Sally is splitting up. The band posted a statement to their MySpace page bidding fans farewell:
As everyone has come to suspect (well, our moms) we will no longer be playing live. Come to think of it, we won't be writing anymore music either. Oh shit! Our band is breaking up!
We got to play Germany, release two full-length records, blow up lots of vans, get bad beer guts....we were a band for over 7 years, lots of crap happened, I'm sure you can get all the dirt from the soon to be released IHS bio (ha, no).
The punk / metal act most recently released a split with Quebec's GFK.

Buffalo, NY's Dead Hearts are calling it a day. The band explained:
Our singer Derek informed us today that he was no longer able to continue doing the band due to commitments back home. We respect that decision and think it would be pointless to carry on without him.
The band has cancelled their upcoming tour with Know the Score and Energy. They most recently released Bitter Verses on Ferret.

Shorebirds has broken up. The band, which featured Matt Canino, of Latterman and Jawbreaker alum Chris Bauermeister, received considerable acclaim for their debut Self Titled 7".
The announcement came via the label Matt co-runs:
Shorebirds broke up. It was just time for it to not be a band anymore. However, we are still releasing the LP, which is now all finished up. It will be available as soon as it is done being pressed and such.
As reported earlier, the album will be pressed on vinyl and CD but no digital release is planned.

Vermont-based hardcore skate punk act My Revenge will play their final show on July 19th. The gig will double as the record release party for their final Thorp released LP Strength Through Nonviolence. The show will take place on July 19th at the Bristol Hub Skatepark in Bristol, Vermont with guests Black SS, Unrestrained, ANS, and Fight Back. The band commented on their coming finale:
Just like the spirit of Mr. Rogers will never die, neither will My
Revenge. But sometimes the tide changes and you gotta put your
surfboard away for a little while and go explore something else, which
means that it's time for My Revenge to ride one more wave for one last
show and release one final record. Hopefully our spirit of magnificent
dysfunctionalism, ridiculous nonsense, and bufoonery will
everlastingly glow bright like the Uni-Brow from the Swedish Chef on
the Muppet Show.
...At this point in time, members of My Revenge are no longer in a
position to continue doing this band. Having become older, we learned
how to tune the instruments, and that's utterly not acceptable for
this band. Mike Halvorsen has 7 children. (All with red Opie hair);
Ryan and Phil recently got a Civil Union and are touring with the
first ever Kiss/Misfits tribute band "Walk Among Kiss;" Heaven's
Bakery is starring in his own movie: "Coming To A Buffet Near You;"
and I, Spencer am the skateboarder version of Dwight from "The
Office.

Connecticut melodic hardcore act Ambitions have broken up. The band posted the following message via Myspace bulletins explaining their reason for disbanding as well as information on their final two shows:
With members living in 3 states and various other demands of life, it’s been harder and harder to devote the time to this band that we feel it deserves. Between one of the members preparing for a reality show and another supporting the campaign trail for Barack Obama, things have been extremely busy outside of the band.
Rather than become less and less active, we’ve decided to put a proper end to something that has meant a lot to us. This band has been a big part of our lives for the past 3 years, and we can’t begin to thank everyone for their support and friendship.
Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, we won’t be able to make our long overdue trip out west to play Sound & Fury. However, we will be playing two final shows in CT, and we hope to see everyone there. This has been a great journey, and one we will never forget.
At this point I feel that we have accomplished everything we could have hoped for with FATA, It doesn’t feel much like a break up. Just feels like the end. It’s complete. I would say that we are going on indefinite hiatus because the term breakup suggests a more negative circumstance.
There have been no quarrels between band members. It is also not a question of fan support because we are lucky to have some of the most loyal and impassioned friends a band could ask for. I’ve dedicated almost 9 years to FATA and it’s become something of a security for me. I’m looking forward to feeling uncertain and the freedom of starting a new band that has no definition. We don’t have any expectations or specific goals with Warship. We just want to play loud, have fun and share some positive music with our friends.
At the same time, two members of the band have unveiled their new project, Warship. The band is currently in a New York studio recording their debut release with producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Daughters, Pelican, Unsane). The as-yet-untitled disc is due out on Vagrant later this fall.
You can check out the first song from the band here.

Sikth has called it a day after a period of inactivity. The band explained:
It deeply saddens the four of us to announce that we are closing the book on SIKTH... it's time to split up. A combination of factors have driven us to make this decision. We want to assure you that if it were viable for us to carry on - we would.
We are currently involved in new projects so keep checking our personal pages for announcements.
The band have released two full length releases; The Trees... in 2003 and Death of a Dead Day in 2006. The band had toured with the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Anthrax and Killswitch Engage.

Toronto's Cursed have abruptly broken up. The band, who recently released their third full length, III, were robbed of their equipment, money and passports while on tour in Europe. According to the band's blog, it was the nail in the coffin. Cursed formed in 2001 and released three albums and two EPs.
Yeah, you heard. Apparently, it gets even worse. That's all I know or even want to know for now. We got robbed at the very end of tour in a totally unreal, extremely sketchy series of events that still makes no sense at all, only leads to paranoia, anger and a total loss of faith. Passports, money, all the costs of the tour. Either way, whoever did it, it was a bullet in the head, the end of the line. A sudden and totally fucked up way for it to end, which I know will be fitting when I look back on it. All we could do was play the show, badly, and go our ways with whatever money we could muster. I hitched a ride back to Prague with Tomas. Since I can't do a fucking thing about it, I'm going to hang out with my girl, and friends, stare at some Czech mountains and try not to think about it. Needless to say, all outstanding plans are off. All this shit aside, thanks to everyone that helped out and travelled from all over for the shows on this tour, all the kids and bands we played and stayed with. Minus a few fucked up shows, it was probably the best tour we ever had. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I'll elaborate when I'm home next week, for now - yes it's true, and yes it's over.
It saddens us to say LaGrecia is no longer a band. Unfortunately, Jason made the decision to leave the band a few weeks ago. This is probably not surprising to some of you who know Jason and have followed his past bands. Sal and I did not want or anticipate the band to end as early as it did. Sal and I were excited with the way things were progressing and we are extremely disappointed and hurt with Jason's cold departure.
Upon leaving the band, Jason stated he no longer wanted anything to do with playing music. He further said that music never meant that much to him. It was something that came easy to him, granted him success and that was it. He wanted to sell off his equipment and focus on furthering his career in broadcast. Although supportive of his decision, this was very upsetting to hear.
Despite the breakup, LaGrecia says that they are still releasing their record, On Parallels on June 24, 2008. Frontman Jason Shevchuk announced that his previous band, None More Black would be reuniting for a show on July 4th.
Shevcuck posted a response on the None More Black myspace page:
LaGrecia formed in May of last year. By July, Dana and I found ourselves in a Romantic Relationship. The band rolled on at a good pace. It was fun. We had a fun summer. Dana decided it would be a good idea to end our relationship in January. The band pressed on and ended up becoming more a burden and an awkward situation for me. How could it not. When your escape becomes your prison things can feel crazy. I'm sorry Sal was caught in the middle.
I left the band in March with the intentions of never playing in a band again. NMB getting back together was never in the back of mind. In April, Colin came up to NYC to hang with Paul and I. We had a great time, as we always do. We kicked around the idea of playing again on a casual level. NMB is going to be playing shows again.
So, as most of you know, Moros is no longer a band. Since we left everything so ambiguous, I felt really terrible about not explaining the situation. It really had nothing to do with Victory, really. I think it started when our van died this past november. We were in the middle of some Navajo reservation for about eight hours and I thought a lot about things.
Things led to other things, deej quit the band a few weeks later, and we eventually came to the conclusion that we didn't really feel up to the task of playing this kind of music anymore. It's kind of tiring to sing almost every day about things that are always bothering you, without ever coming to any final conclusion. Without getting to philosophical, it was just the band's time, and we have already started moving on to other things, musically and personally, that is.

Seattle hardcore band Sinking Ships have announced their break-up on their MySpace. No other statement has been made aside from the announcement of two final shows, one in Seattle at Rain Fest, and one at this year's edition of the Sound and Fury festival in Southern California.
The band had previously made an announcement regarding their next LP, which was to be self-released. There is currently no word on whether or not this LP will be finished, however, the band recently released a new song from the LP on their MySpace.
