This album is great, too bad they don't play anything but two songs off of it live these days. Good review. Incredible record. got me into "melodic hardcore". i was into Pop-punk like Offspring and Blink-182 before. good cd i recomentd u buy it actually my first real punk record. completely rocks. great record. When a band like this opens for MCR it makes me want to cry. oopps typo- i wanted to see them open lol sry pplz one word AMAZING CRAZY GOOD!!! it just might be one of my favorite records. you can't really describe this. there aren't many lyrical themes, but that works to a good advantage. i got this CD a while ago and i still like it. the songs manage to stay interesting, although some have limp choruses. the singers voice along with the pillage of the guitar, drum and bass will haunt you in your sleep. get it you motherfuckers!!! if you like Metal, Punk, or just plain rock, this is your favorite album. the guitar solo on "blood, red, white and blue" scares the fuck out of you, right when you think that the mostly boring track is over. and once the unforgettable "amber changing" is over, an hilairiously god cover of pop metal band journey kicks in as a bonus track. This album is a modern classic. best origional release by rise against, but, the re-issue of the unravelling is better. incredible band. if you dont like Rise Against, if you dont like Rise Against, Rise Against are one of the only political punk bands I can stand. this band is complete shit. hey riseabove check out cd prices in england u reckon $11 is expensive most cds here are about £15 i dunno how much that works out as in your american dollers but its shit loads for me good idea If you do not like Rise Against, then you should be locked in a room that plays only Nickelback until you kill yourself. The only thing good that's on 92.3 is Howard Stern and he's not going to be around for too long. There are much better radio stations in New Jersey, trust me on this one. ive actually heard rise against on the radio recently in jersey...ive heard them on 106.3 92.3 and 94.5 kickass band who deserves more respect then what their given whoever doesnt like rise against can go fuck themselves... anyone who has a decent taste in music will like this... bye the fucking cd... its worth it Amazing Album! One of the Best releases in 2003!! This cd was a total let down for me. I was expecting alot out of this album and I didn't get much for the $11 I paid for it. There are really only 2 maybe 3 good songs on this album. This band is a little too overrated and it would have been better if 88 Fingers Louie was still out there instead of this band. Easily one of the best albums of all time. maybe there best record, but I have to say that I love all 3! I don't know which band came first, but these guys sound just like Strike Anywhere. The Young And The Useless do the best Anyway cover, but this cd still rocks. Sorry, but that list of the best albums is embarrassing......Wu-tang and Bob Dylan alongside None More Black and the Bouncing Souls??!!?? Hopeless Romantic is the only one that should even be within a mile of a list like that.... no, they don't sound exactly like strike anywhere. strike anywhere is more straight up hardcore. speaking of which, woudn't a tour with them be the shit? yes, it would. These guys sound exactly like Strike Anywhere. Not too bad, in other words. I heard Like The Angel on the radio (yes, I seriously did) in Texas (yes, I seriously did) and fell in love. I searched for this album, found it, and fell in love. Rise Against are easily one of the best bands out there. Ever. Rise Against has now been added to the ranks of my favorite bands. This cd kicks so much ass ! I can't say something that hasn't already been said. I'll try... Numero Uno - This CD kicks amazing ass, it is better than a lot of crap that has come out in the past year or 2. amazing cd. I completely agree. Rise Against is one of the best bands in punk today. I've seen them live twice and they are amazing. I had only heard a few songs by these guys before warped and decided to check them out. I missed the first few songs because I went to the wrong stage but they were very good. Crowd wasn't too into them though. On the way out I picked up this cd and it blew me away, amazing cd. Joins the ranks of best albums ever, with: "Hardcore without metal. This band sounds like every other melodic hardcore band for me except that one song on the latest fat comp i like that song but i dont get the hype behind this band wow this was really a good cd,even seems to get better the more you listen to it...most bands who try to blend hardcore and punkrock usually don´t manage to do it very well, but these guys pull it off...I´m impressed... this cd gets better with every listen. literally. voices off camera is incredible as is last chance blueprint and torches. insanely awesome this is worth it, whatever you have to do to get this cd. my only regret is the abscence of generation lost... the song which inspired me to buy this disc along with everchanging Record Release Shows Setlists (songs in no particular order): This album is amazing, hands fucking down the best cd I have picked up this year(just as good as the new AFI disc). This cd is just soooooooooo good, everyone should own this... from a few things i've read here: i really don't get the hype behind this band. Your right. There are absolutely no elitists at a PROG METAL show. Hahaha "What? Those bands sound nothing alike." how can rise against bore you live? they are one of the most energetic bands that i have seen and also put on an incredibly fantastic show the first time i saw them, and i didn't even know the material. What? Those bands sound nothing alike. Cannibal Corpse and Converge = same sound but different genres Your right. There are absolutely no elitists at a PROG METAL show. Hahaha Tool is for tools. Rise Against kind of bored me live...not exactly the feeling I was expecting to walk away with after their set. Their music was just lacking the fullness/quality it had on the cd. this album kix ass. Should be fun to see the songs live :-D Nah man this just aint hardercorer enough. What u need is some of that new school metalcore! ya know the stuff peopel call hardcore but pratically mirrors any death metal band that sings about hanging dead corpses. Yes thats the only good music. Soooooo, what your trying to say is that poeple who like Thrice will like Rise Against? Oh I gotcha! People with good taste in music will love this. Thanks for the compliment "bro" (uh-oh, im taking the buddyhead route!). Rise Against is pretty good. I dont see what all the fuss is about, but they are good. Thrice on the other hand totally fucking rules my skool. Im out. Painfully predictable popcore crap. The Thrice crowd will eat this up. I've got the best vocabulary and I know so much about politics, the music industry AND punkrock.....especially for my age(I'm 15) Hopefully the people on the internet will buy my schtick and thinkg I'm cool and educated. Man, my AP English class really paid off! great album, the oppsoite of the "same time" release from Lagwagon, which is a total blow, except the song "e", but the rest real shit, epecially for Lagwagon fans. But this album is so far the best i have heard this year, the mood it puts me in is similar to Descendents "everything sux" wiht Hot Water Music influence, its just this uncomplicated approach to the music and lyrics with great hardcore parts and melodic parts. yeah, I definitely wouldn't call them a pop-punk band. They do have some slower shit, but they definitely have some hardcore songs as well. I still like the unravelling better than this.. so far. Maybe I just need to listen to it more. Morons, Morons, and More Morons... Whoever slammed Tool should go fuck themselves. Tool is an incredible band. Much more talented than 99% of the bands that get reviewed here. Painfully predictable popcore crap. The Thrice crowd will eat this up. The More I listen to it, the more I become convinced that this is a very solid(hehe almost wrot soiled) album. hey man, there really is no need for tool bashing, Tool is one of the best bands in the world. word to the wise.. people said bro before buddyhead. Yes even to describe a type of music. I know that may seem hard to beleive but they/we did. Do yourself a favor and buy this album. It's fucking rockalicious! To the guy below....quit ripping Buddyhead, its just not funny. Highschool kids totally eat this shit up! Is it just me or does Tim the lead singer sound like the the tool from Tool sometimes? Like on the song "Halfway there". I've read the review and listened to it ALOT and it isn't great, it's not even good... I'll give it mediocre at best.. Oh and I wasn't sure about the rules but people CAN comment w/o reading someone's review.. and honestly I think this review is pretty good the band isn't that' all. kid dynamite will do another reunion tour. they just can't stay broken up. have you ever heard of a band called Sick Of It All? Yeah, they're not exactly pop punk. it would be nice if people couldnt comment until they've actually listened the album wouldnt it. Who cares if they're not the new Refused or what teh fuck ever? It's a kickass album with some sweet sounds and cool lyrics. And it definately isn't "completely indistinguishable to any other faux hardcore album out there right now". If you think that you obviously haven't listened to it much. Oh and yeah, read the fucking review before commenting, jackass. This quote is fucking RIGHT-ON! This may be the bets album that I have heard in a few years. I can't get enough of it. Uhh... feedmynightmare, nothing in common? People keep comparing KD to Lifetime because of the common members. Just like people are going to compare Paint It Black and None More Black to Kid Dynamite. I thought that was pretty obvious... This band is amazing! I am so impressed with this new record. To top it off they are some the most genuine people and overall just an awesome bunch of guys. They deserve all the great things that are coming their way! That song is godly, I have an Unearth hoodie with a line from it on the back. OC, Death by Stereo sounds like Good Riddance or the Missing 23rd or Fury 66? Wow, do you even listen to music. Fuck this pop punk crap.... Guns n fuckn roses, thats all i need. Get in the ring motherfuckers. Pop punks for homos. I think punk bands have a particular responsibility to question the status quo. I just think that in this day and age the reasons for and against war (and many other national policies) are far more complex than Rise Against is capable of addressing. Maybe it's too much to ask, but I think that if a band is going to attack anything it should have something more profound to say than just "Amerika" sucks. What a true idiot. I made it a point to say I WASNT comparing Kid D to Rise Against. I said it TWICE. Ahhhhhh! best album of the year so far. re: "This album is great and all, but its too fuckin' clean. Personally, I like a little dirt in my music" - build a time machine and go back to the fucking 70's and 80's for shitty recording quality. This album smokes, buy it and let it own you. This Album fuckin rocks all. I love it so much. OC just steal CDs from hot topic. an even trade for exploiting punk rock "whoever is comparing this crap to kid fucking dynamite should be shot." I don't know, the 2nd 1/2 of Unraveling is kinda slow. rise against is the most talented band out there and there live acts are more of a miracle to hear and see tim (lead singer) is so good, his voice isnt like the others now on the scene its so medolic, but im big rise fan and ive seeen theem twice and ive have unraveling since it came out and i can still put that in my cd player and go crazy when the chorus' come around but revolutions to me is weak, dont get me wrong it is good but if ur looking for some good rise go to unravling songs, RPM is a good cd maybe one of the best in the year(new death by is amazing also) but if you like faster harder songs on RPM pick up unraveling Catchy music sucks! Yeah! idiot.. i heard this album, it sucks and whoever is comparing this crap to kid fucking dynamite should be shot. thats like comparing fugazi to a linkin park. pop punk sucks. FAT is no better than Mtv. that is a fact. there is no difference anymore between sum 41 and strung out, no use, and now that i have heard lagwagons new album, they might as well tape a video fot trl too. die pop punksters. kid dynamite revitalized the hardcore scene when it was dying and now that they are gone we are going to have to wait for another band to come along to remind all the other bands what hardcore is all about. it sure as hell aint gonna be anyone on FAT. rise against is probably the heaviest band on there and they are just as catchy as hootie and the blowjobs. rise againsts new album sounds better than kid dynamite....not their first but the new one :0 metalcore kids always know what is good music and what is bad.....if it dont got a breakdown than it aint good AND you gave props to Hot Topic. "There is no art in merely recreating what countless other bands have done countless times (and frequently better). Further, in these complicated times describing "Amerika" as conducting war for pride is insufficient, inappropriate and cliche. " I try to refrain from reading most comments posted on this site b/c they are just ridiculous and most don't even relate to the review or article. It's all a bunch of personal opinion, which is cool and expected, but some people get way the hell out of line. After reading these comments it just goes to show how people can get off the topic so easily and bitch about stupid things not even related. Rise Against is the punk side project of Linkin Park. I bought this album after hearing the 2 mp3's off of this site. Normally this type of music isn't the kind of thing that I like, but damn this shit is good. Amazing record, and I will definately be checking out rise against back catalog. [sarcasm] I don't think anyone has ever seen Caddyshack, actually. [/sarcasm] has anyone ever seen caddyshack? that's where rodney dangerfield originally danced to that journey song, i mean he had a stereo in his freakin golf bag! Who ever posted this shit; This album is great and all, but its too fuckin' clean. Personally, I like a little dirt in my music. I prefer the unravelling, thank you very much. Still, a great, great band. im gonna have to disagree with that kid's comment on how the lagwagon album will disappoint. it is sooooo fucking good. insanely good, actually. im in love with every single second of the cd. as for rise against; i heard a song of theirs on the fat comp a couple years ago, and it was good, but ill definitely be checking out this new cd. sounds awesome...and journey fucking rocks my world. But last time I checked this wasnt a Rancid topic. Lets talk about Rise Against people. I think the only album that can top this, that I know of, are the new Shai Hulud, Death By Stereo and or Fordirelifesake. I loathe Rancid. I can not stand Tim Armstrong's voice. And even more so, they havent put out an interesting album ever. Everything Rancid has put out sounds like another release. Its old . Matt Freeman's a kickass basist though. I hate blink but that fag can play drums better then you could any day, and do you know him personally? Hes probably just stuck in a shitty band. He could be a jerk, or a really cool guy. Dont judge. Who the fuck cares if he plays with that "fag" from Blink? Fuck off. If the music is good, why do you care? rancid is ill but tim plays with the fag from blink. what the fuck is that? there may never be a better hardcore album than the kid dynamite s/t is what i meant to write. i dont feel like fixing the other typos. you know what im saying. i just saw none more black a couple of weeks ago. i still listen to kid dynamites s/t everyday of my life and always will, for there will probably be a better hardcore album, but i must say none more black sucks. live anyway. im sure his lyrics will still be amazing but the music is disgusting. its so fucking catchy i wanted to throw up. and if a band sounds catchy live, i dont think i want to hear what it sounds like on cd. i guess i should have expected it them being on fat and all. fat is dead. paint it black on the other hand will be good. dan yemin is old enough to be my dad and he gets harder as time goes on. none more black, no matter how good the lyrics are, is amajor step down from kd. jays a pussy-dans the man. id still kill to go see the kid dynamite show though. here are a couple more reviews for you. lagwagons new album made me puke. i cant believe they made me wait for that garbage. avril lavaginal rocks harder. boysetsfires new album, although it sounds very clean and produced its an awesome album and after seeing them live with the hope conspiracy last night i see that hardcore is still alive over here on the east coast. fucking amazing. as for rise against, i didnt even know they had a new album. i just saw a comment on NMB and how the album is going to be good-its not-they suck, and the fact that they signed to FAT is just a kick in the face to the east coast. i heard a rise against song on a compilation though and i must say i was fucking surprised. it was better than any 88 song ive ever heard and i was a big fan when they were around. my last bit of advice is that if you want to pick a band that will never ever disapoint you, and will progree with every album, that band is fugazi, the only album that really matters.the only real punk band. oh yeah.. the black sea LP will be album of year, unless fugazi has something up there sleeves. dont buy the new lagwago album no matter how big a fan you are or were, it is bound to dissapoint you. the only decent song is the one that was on the latest fat compilation, and they rerecorded it and it sounds lame. I can respect people who like Rancid, just not when people berate others for not liking them. For the record, Matt Freeman rules, the rest of the band, I could do without. I, as you probably all know, really like Rancid... but Tim's voice is definately something you either like or hate. I hate Rancid mainly because Tim Armstrong's voice sounds like someone with downs syndrome singing underwater. Why is it that a lot of people dont like Rancid? I dont understand. I mean, is it because they are pretty popular but keep making music that they want to make without giving in to anyone. I think Rancid 2000 is the best Rancid album I own. Thats the one I listen to most. I just dont understand what makes Rancid a dislikable band to the punknews.org faithful these days.Oh yea, and Rise Against is fucking great. I agree with the guy down below that this album will keep kicking your ass until the new Rancid comes out (or in my case the new Dropkick Murphys).-BostonMusicGuy Dag, I'd kill for a ticket to the third Kid Dynamite show. Kid Dynamite AND Grey Area. Holy hell. That would be fucking sweet. Alas, there's exams and border-crossing to deal with, as well as crack money. Oh well. *for not damn i'm an ass for mentioning this: big props to the blasting room!!! Man, Rancid sure does have some of the most verbally intriguing fans I've ever seen. How come so many people diss on rancid? They have the most fuckin awsome lyrics |
